Face Care Routine

* Today's post is sponsored by Tropical Traditions. I'll be talking about a lot of products from other companies as well, but their companies know nothing about this post.

Tropical Traditions recently sent me some of their "Unscented Moisturizing Cream". I can't recommend this product enough! In my opinion, it makes the PERFECT evening moisturizer. You can order the moisturizing cream in these scents as well: lavender, arnica, peppermint, citrus, baby silk, vanilla, and coconut.

I love it so much that I have agreed to host a giveaway so that one of YOU can try out some of this great product! Be sure to watch for the giveaway which will begin on Monday. You know what coconut oil is and that their coconut oil is great, but you also need to know that Tropical Traditions has a line of products that is wide and varied. From skin care and oral health to cleaning products and essential oils, to non-GMO food items and grass fed beef - they've got you covered!

Let's talk about HOW I've been using their "Unscented Moisturizing Cream" and my ever changing skin care routine...

Growing up, I was the kid with pretty much NO acne. Since my best friend and her sister were always dealing with severe cases of it, I was terrified of ending up with the same problem. I was SUPER proactive.

My first face wash.

In the beginning I simply used Neutrogena's "Oil Free Acne Wash" in the shower each day.

My old morning routine.

When I got to be a bit older, I developed an actual routine. I would wash my face each morning (as well as after sports) with Clean and Clear's "Exfoliating Daily Wash". Before I did my hair, I would apply "Sea Breeze Astringent" followed by Olay's "Complete Moisturizer".

My old exfoliator.

In the evenings I would wash my face again and apply sea breeze if the day involved a lot of sweat. I would always skip the lotion because I didn't need it. A few times I week I would use Neutrogena's "Blackhead Eliminating Daily Scrub" instead.

As you can see, during my teen years my skin care routine was pretty solid. Then my 20's happened and they brought along a little love. Compared to what my friend dealt with, I've never had "true acne", but my 20's have shown me that it's never too late! I've taken a little more interest in my face and moisturizing has become a bit more important to me.

Unfortunately, my lineup has been forced to change because...

Olay changed the formula of their lotion. A few years ago I noticed that it felt and smelled completely different than what I was used to.

Clean and Clear's bottles started OOZING out the face wash and I've since heard that due to "environmental concern" the beaded products are going to be reformulated.

I'm ready to discover my new "favorite" products and get a routine going again! I've tried products and ended up hating them. I've tried products that were discontinued before I was able to get another bottle. I have managed to get a decent nighttime routine down.

Current Night Time Routine

I've been using Neutrogena's "Oil Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Cream Cleanser"  (only at night because you're not supposed to be in the sun afterwards due to the citrus) followed by Sea Breeze and Tropical Traditions "Unscented Moisturizing Cream". This routine leaves my face feeling clean and HYDRATED.

Tropical Traditions "Unscented Moisturizing Cream" is heavy and thick. It doesn't contain any alcohol which is why it takes some time to work its way into your skin. It DOES contain: purified water, organic coconut oil, emulsifying wax (plant based, no soy), palm stearic, grapefruit seed extract, organic beeswax, and organic virgin palm oil.

A little bit goes a long way and it always works very WELL. This moisturizing cream is by far my favorite part of my nighttime routine. I love going to bed knowing that it's working its "magic" on my skin.

I am currently still on the hunt for:

A daily cleanser that is gel (ie not cream) and DOES involve gentle exfoliation. I actually prefer face washes that smell slightly astringent.

A moisturizer to use following my morning wash and sea breeze session.

An exfoliator to use a few times a week.

I'd also love to find a mask to do once a month or so.

What's in your skin care line up?

Can you recommend any products for me to try?

Have you tried any products from Tropical Traditions beauty line?
